Carbide Blades are meant for the removal of hard materials like various tiles (Ceramic, Quarry, etc) as well as thinset, hard coatings, and more. Carbide is an alloy that is much harder than spring steel which is why it is used for the removal of hard materials. Note that while the edge will last longer than a spring steel blade, it will still need to be sharpened to maintain the best performance (we recommend using a Silicon Carbide wheel). The carbide portion is actually an insert attached to a steel plate that makes up the blade “body”. Our blade plate is made of a harder more abrasion resistant material than other offerings in the market. This is important because if the blade plate is too soft, it will wear away much faster than the carbide leaving the insert without any support. We currently offer 3 different widths of carbide blades (2”, 4”, and 6”). They come standard with a straight shank (1-7/16” diameter, 4-¾” long). However, the blades can be ordered with an angle shank, or without a shank so a user can install their own onto the blade plate.
Carbide Blades are typically used with Ride-On floor Scrapers, but we also offer 2” carbide options for our Walk-Behind scrapers.
If you have a specific shank dimension different from what we offer please reach out and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
